A rota for a warehouse
A warehouse week is early starts, nights, and handovers at the door. Shiftbrook publishes who is in the building. It does not pick orders, scan barcodes, or run the yard.
Nights are a rule, not a label
A night worker regularly works at least three hours in night time. Unless an agreement says otherwise, night time is 11pm to 6am. Normal hours for a night worker must not exceed an average of eight hours in 24. Offer a free health assessment before night work starts and at regular intervals. There is no higher National Minimum Wage for nights. Any allowance is the contract. The night shift allowance entry says the same thing, and the product still will not multiply the hour.
A night that is worked through is not a sleep-in. A sleep-in is a shift where the person is expected to sleep and is woken for tasks, with suitable facilities if the sleeping time is to fall outside the minimum-wage hours. A picker on a night shift is working. Do not apply the sleep-in exception to a shift you expected them to work. The on-call entry has the minimum-wage distinction.
The pin is the building
Clock-in checks the phone against the site pin. The default radius is 100 metres. A yard that is larger than the circle needs a radius you set, up to 1000 metres, or the punch will fail at the far door. The phone is not tracked between clock-in and clock-out. There is no photo. If the pin is not set, clock-in stays closed.
Agency staff on your floor are still a placement on the agency’s own account if the agency employs them. Your rota is for people in your organisation. The agencies page explains client sites, approvers and the lock after sign-off. Do not invent a second system inside the warehouse account for someone else’s payroll.
Rest between blocks
An adult should have 11 hours between working days. A finish at 6am and a start at noon is six hours, not eleven. The warning on save will say so. It will not delete the shift. Weekly rest is 24 hours, or 48 hours a fortnight. A rolling four-on four-off can still miss the join between the last night and the next cycle. The rolling rota entry is how the cycle differs from a copied week. Shiftbrook does not ship that pattern as a button. You place the shifts.
The free plan covers up to 5 staff and one location on the first organisation. Past that, the paid plan is £3 per active person per month, with a £15 minimum. A 14-day trial of the paid plan does not ask for a card. When the trial ends, the organisation returns to the free plan. Approved hours download as a CSV. Sending approved hours to Xero Payroll UK is not available until that connection works end to end. There is no warehouse system behind the rota: no locations inside the aisle, no pick rate, no trailer booking.
Questions
Can the radius cover a large yard?
Yes. The default is 100 metres. You can set the circle from 25 to 1000 metres. A reading coarser than 100 metres is ignored.
Does a night shift get a higher minimum wage?
No. GOV.UK says there is not a higher night working rate. An allowance is whatever the contract agrees, and Shiftbrook does not calculate it.
