Timetastic now has a rota and a time clock.

Timetastic started as leave software. On 21 October 2026 their pricing page also sells Rota & Time Clock, a separate app for rotas, clock-in and timesheets. A free plan was not on that page. The trial they print is 30 days.

Leave plansStructured data on the pricing page prices Business at £1.20 and Pro at £2.00 per user per month, in GBP. Their help article states the same two figures.Leave is included on the free plan and the paid plan. The free plan is up to 5 staff, not a per-person fee.
Rota and clockRota & Time Clock is a separate app. The help article states £4.00 per user per month. The pricing page says it adds rota building, a time clock and timesheets on top of leave.Rota, clock-in, leave and timesheets are one product. Clock-in checks a site pin at punch time and does not follow the phone between punches.
Trying it30 days, no card, on the pricing page and in the Rota & Time Clock FAQ. No free plan was listed on the pricing page.Free for up to 5 staff, with no end date. One 14-day trial of the paid plan, with no card.
XeroThe pricing page names Sage 50 and QuickBooks. It does not name Xero. A Timetastic blog post says a payroll CSV can be used with Xero. Their time and attendance help lists QuickBooks and Sage 50 as the payroll integrations.Approved hours download as a CSV. Sending them to Xero Payroll UK is not available until that connection works end to end.
Who is countedThe Rota & Time Clock FAQ says any person with a profile is a paid user, including administrators, even if they are not on the rota. The paid price is per active person, with a £15 minimum. Owners stay active. People over the free allowance can be paused rather than deleted.

The rota is no longer missing

It used to be fair to describe Timetastic as leave software. That is out of date. On 21 October 2026, timetastic.co.uk/pricing leads with rota building and clock-in, and the plan list includes Rota & Time Clock beside Business and Pro. Their help article “Business & Pro plans and Rota & Time Clock: what’s the difference?” says Business is £1.20 per user per month, Pro is £2.00, and Rota & Time Clock is £4.00. The same pricing page’s structured data repeats £1.20 and £2.00 in GBP for Business and Pro. When the page was fetched without a UK location it also displayed dollar amounts, so the pound figures used here are the ones in that structured data and in the help article.

Rota & Time Clock is described as its own app. The FAQ says the trial is 30 days and needs no card, that billing is month to month, and that every profile counts as a paid user. The pricing page does not list a plan that stays free after the trial. Shiftbrook’s free plan stays free for up to 5 staff. The 14-day trial is only the paid plan, and it is once per organisation.

The feature grid on their pricing page includes employee scheduling, open shifts, clock-in and timesheets on the rota product. Shiftbrook does those too, in one account. Shiftbrook does not offer the labour cost calculator, photo punch or weather forecast that their grid names. This page does not claim those absences are defects. They are items on their list that are not in Shiftbrook.

Xero, and the free plan

A comparison that says “Timetastic is free, and it connects to Xero, and it has no rota” does not match the pages read on 21 October 2026. There was no free plan on the pricing page. The named integrations on that page were Sage 50 and QuickBooks, plus Slack, Teams and Google Workspace. Xero was not in that list. Their blog post on time tracking says a payroll CSV is compatible with Xero, Sage and BrightPay. Their help article on starting time and attendance points payroll integrations at QuickBooks and Sage 50. Compatibility of a CSV is not the same thing as a connection that sends the hours.

Shiftbrook’s position is the same shape. The CSV is the download. Sending approved hours to Xero Payroll UK is not available until that connection works end to end. The difference that is still true is the free plan: up to 5 staff, no card, and no end date, with rota, clock-in, leave and timesheets included. Timetastic’s published way to try the rota app is 30 days.

When Timetastic is the better choice

Choose Timetastic when you want the labour cost calculator, photo punch or weather forecast their pricing grid names. Shiftbrook does not have those. Choose them when a 30-day trial of the rota app matters more than a free plan that stays free, or when leave on its own at the £1.20 or £2.00 figure is the product you want.

Shiftbrook is the clearer fit when rota, clock-in, leave and timesheets should be one product with a free plan for up to 5 staff. Their rota and time clock is a separate app at the £4.00 figure in the help article.
